Featured Industry Partner

Skip Ireland, ASID IPR
COS Business Products and Interiors

Skip Ireland of COS is a valued industry partner. Skip has supported ASID in a number of ways, hosting regular District meetings as well as Chapter Board Meetings; lunch-n-learns; NEOCON trips, event sponsorships; fund raising, providing furniture resource library; providing meeting space, product education and showroom for independent designer/client meetings.

Skip, why is it important for you to work with ASID?

ASID is the backbone of the contract office furniture market. As a furniture dealer who does not have an in-house design team, it is imperative for COS that we develop and maintain great relationships with the Designers who are working directly with clients to provide all the products and services they need to create that perfect office environment. We have chosen to work with, not compete against, Designers. We want to be the “go to resource” for all corporate furniture needs and support the vision that our Designer allies create.

About COS Business Products and Interiors:

Chattanooga Office Supply Co. began as a small family-owned stationary company, founded in 1941 by Henry H. Ireland, Sr. with two employees selling retail stationery and office supplies. As the company grew, it evolved into this region’s largest locally owned provider of business products and office furniture.

In 1983, the company was purchased by H. H. “Skip” Ireland, III and James E. “Jim” Ireland. This third generation continued to grow the business and saw the company quadruple over the next 10 years. The 1990’s saw continued change. COS began to sell a wide range of business products, including office supplies, computer products, laser and inkjet cartridges, safety, break room, and janitorial products. The company also became a leading provider of business interiors, including furniture solutions to fit virtually every need, taste, style, and budget. In 1999, Dalton Office Supply Co. and Office Furniture/USA-Dalton were opened to better serve the North Georgia area, and to help further establish COS as the leader in the East Tennessee-North Georgia marketplace.

As the company grew, so did the demands of customers to sell and service their locations regionally, nationally, and globally. COS developed programs and processes that allow it to partner with national companies, serving thousands of our customers’ locations on a daily basis.

In 2002, Chattanooga Office Supply Co. changed its name to COS Business Products & Interiors to more accurately reflect its business. COS also moved to its current location, 1548 Riverside Drive, providing its employees with a state of the art office and showroom facility.

Today, COS represents over 350 different manufacturers and offers a full facility services menu to help clients manage their furniture assets, including project management, move management, repair and maintenance, and refurbishment and reconfigurations.

COS is committed to remain a Chattanooga-owned business, supporting its employees, its community, and the local economy
